Finished my new aviary/reading nook

Post by Tmiller » Thu Oct 15, 2015 10:44 pm

Finally finished my reading nook, I built a corner bench with storage under it for my totes with all my bird supplies, I built a book shelf I could hang up on the wall, and my new aviary that's 8ft tall 7ft long and 2ft wide, it goes from the floor clear to the ceiling, it has glass walls to keep the seeds in and has two pull out drawers on the bottom for easy cleaning, and a small pool at the end with a small fountain that my new strawberry finches love.

Lovely !

That must have been quite the job.
I'm curious, is there an entrance into your aviary? I'm looking at the Images on my phone, so small picts and hard to tell. Also, how do you work in air circulation?

lovezebs wow... what a great little spot... I wouldn't get much reading done if I had some birds inside.

You have also just given me an idea for our avairy and the water dish... I might need to do some adjusting because I am thinking of getting some king quails (button quails I think they are in the states) for our one.

I might even put in a small roof over the water feature because... you know zebs are kinda messy...

There is a tall narrow door on the side by the fountain, as well as two 4ft tall by 2ft wide doors at the end that I can step through, as for ventilation I put in multiple vents on the ceiling of the aviary with a mini fan that circulates the air but not enough to cause a cold draft in the aviary. Sorry the pictures are not the greatest I couldn't back far enough away to get the whole aviary in the picture.

Although I would love to take credit for this, this aviary is not mine.

Love it!! What an awesome spot to curl up with a book but then again, when ever I try reading in front of my aviary's, I always end up watching the birds instead! :D

I must echo others in this regard, I would manage very little reading, with the birds right infront of me :-D.

Good job!

Thanks everyone for all the compliments, ive had a few people come over who don't understand the joy of finches and canaries who think im crazy to make a aviary that's the size of a wall, especially when I have another large corner aviary that's almost as large in the other room.

Looks great! What a way to combine two of the world's greatest pleasures: reading and finching :D
