When my guys were 'attempting', I actually offered a thick cardboard box, taped shut, with a portion (about a quarter to a third opening ) cut into it as an enterance. I'll try to see if I have a picture somewhere.

I especially like the molting picture, with the snow in the background. Such a nice touch of death (winter) and life (the molt) combined in one shot.
But hey, my metaphysical brain is always buzzing. I can see why they are so happy

Of course couldn't find the picture I was looking for of the box that I used. If I find it I'll post it on here.
Long story short, it's a box, like the ones that you get Pizza Pops in at the store (the multy package).
My Strawberries, bred in a similar box (made from a multi box of granola bars).

Thanks for the help...I've been at a loss on what to do. There's one lone little egg in their plastic nest box, and they won't sit on it, but I've got a heat lamp that's been keeping it warm. How much do they normally sit on their eggs?

Mine never did sit on the eggs, that was the problem.
My male was extremely aggressive at chasing the females (to an absolute state of exhaustion). The eggs were all empty, possibly due to lack of incubating, or possibly because this particular male was aged out when I got him. Not sure.
Eventually, I had to remove him from the flight, worrying that my girls would die on me because of him, which one did anyway, not long after (but she was an older bird when I fist got her).

I hope I can get them to sit on the next clutch. I don't think their lone little egg will make it. They rarely go in the box, and it's just for a few seconds. I hope that by putting them in a larger flight, and offering different kinds of nests, they'll pick one they like. One of her eggs was on the bottom of the cage cracked, and when I picked it up, a perfect little yolk fell out, so at least I know they're not empty.
I'm just kind of sad at the moment..it's too bad not all finches can breed as easily as societies!

Hi Stacy
I wish you luck with your Parrots. For now, mine are just busy entertaining me with their silly antics. They are such clowns
, and just fun to watch.
If they ever breed fine, and if they don't, that's ok too.
Hopefully your guys will get down to some serious business soon. I would love to see some green babies in your flight

I do have a friend who wants to buy a couple from me if they ever do breed, but I also want to do it because they're so adorable! I think they're my new favorites

Last night, I noticed my parrot finches had tossed out the last egg. So I'm going Saturday to pick up the double flight cage, and I think they'll be much happier once they're moved and have more space.

Sounds like a good idea

They are very active birds and do better in larger spaces (or so I am told).
