Why joking?
It's a very real possibility.

Mind you, I also long thought my pair were of the same sex... Then they proved me wrong.
Ah, the joys of having birds that can't be sexed easily. Maybe you should fork out for DNA sexing?

No, it get's too expensive, and I have several here that I'm not sure of, so it would get very expensive very quickly, lol.

There is an Owl, a Diamond Sparrow, the 2 Lavenders, some Javas, some Orange Cheeks, some Red Brows.... ~X(

Apparently most or maybe all books ordered to Hungary have arrived, though I won't see them for quite a while yet.

The first one ordered to Indonesia has also arrived.
It is Frank Woolham's The Handbook of Aviculture:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/071371 ... ref=plSrch
An excellent book well worth its price.
Much more of an encyclopedia than many books titled such. It covers everything from ostriches to waxbills, and is most interesting to those who keep or might once keep more than just finches.

w.l. - I haven't kept up with this post in quite a while, but here is a book you might want to add to your library (it is in German but that's no problem for you):
Karl Sabel
"Naturgemaesse Finkenzucht"

(Saemereien und Wildfutterpflanzen fuer europaeische und aussereuropaeische Koernerfresser)

I'm not sure if it's still available. I bought mine in 1983 or '84 in Germany. Had completely forgotten I owned it and found it by accident just a few days ago.

Thanks, but I guess it describes wild plants of Europe, so would be of little use to me here.

Do you remember the Bronze Winged Manikins which I mentioned further up in this thread.

Well, our breeder appears to have a much more favourable opinion of their personality than we do.

Read his little write up about these 'sweet' little birds:

Well, it's an advertisement to sell them, what do you expect?
Though the bit about them being great in community flights could have been omitted, really, leaving the bits about their petite size and sweet song.

I kinda feel bad for some unsuspecting person, who sticks a breeding pair of these two, into a peaceful community flight cage  .

Whomever decides to buy them, hopefully will do they're homework first, and do some reading about the species.

I still think you should get them, just put them in a separate cage. You will have quite a few empty ones once your birds move into the new birdroom, won't you? ;-)

Oh, by the way.... I found these 2 books at a second hand shop a few days ago.picked them up for next to nothing.

The first, is a fun little book, filled with all sorts of interesting little bits of information.

The second, does contain some species information, but I grabbed it mainly for the nice colourfull illustrations.

Don't think so.

Not too keen on the personality, or their looks really, so why get them.

Now, if they were the tri coloured beauties (which someone on here was advertising a few days ago, I would def be tempted :D

Their personality is fine when they are by themselves.
I agree that they are not exactly colorful, but then neither are your beloved Societies. :-)
What do you mean by tri coloured beauties?
Nuns, parrotfinches... ?
