The three kids got caught yesterday and babded with pretty purple bracelets.

What a battle that was, lol.
These kids just did not want to be banded and kept curling their toes into little fists. The fact that they seem to have very long middle toes didn't help either #-o .
As soon as I would get the darn ring over their middle toe, they would curl the other two little toes into a tight fist along with their back toe ~X( ~X( ~X(

It took me close to an hour, to get all three done, and I was a sweaty nervous wreck by the time I was done #:-S #:-S #:-S

You could use click leg bands.

Hum, strange, here, try this link:

https://pt.aliexpress.com/item/Wholesal ... 0.0.wkWpFI

It is an open leg band / ring that closes with a click.

Ricardo Ronsini

Now I got it, thanks.

Yes those would be a lot easir, lol

I might have to order some. I've been using these silly things. Sice them in half and slide them on (when the birds decie to cooperate  )

Leg bands are a pain. I had ordered a whole bunch of them back when I didn't know whether or not all 10 of my eggs would hatch, they were the rubber ones.

I cannot imagine how difficult it must be to band a teensy weensy little stick if a sleeping quail made it difficult.

Let us know how those click bands work out!

lovezebs, Ricardo Ronsini, and MisterGribs

I'm probably going to experiment with some small rubber bands for finch banding. I did some research and figured that 1/8" diameter bands should not restrict the legs of smaller finches, but should stay on. Theoretically, these bands are superior, as they are lighter, allowing for more bands on one bird, somewhat inexpensive (so long as shipping is not crazy), and fairly easy to apply. I'll see how they work out.
