Female Finch look fat not active, please help!

Post by ywqjennifer » Mon Nov 13, 2017 12:01 pm

My female finch laid four eggs about two weeks ago. The eggs are all hatched now. But the female finch does not look right, she looks very fat and not active. She also tuck her head under wings. See the picture. I don't what's happening to her. Any thoughts? Please help. Thanks.

If she's all fluffed up, sitting on tge bottom of tge cage and looking sick and miserable, she mught be egg bound.

Catch her, and very gently feel her lower abdomen for any lumps, like a possible egg that's stuck and can't be pushed out. If you feel an egg, follow these instructions:

lovezebs thanks for your response, but her four eggs just hatched a couple of days ago. She could still be having eggs in her?

lovezebs I grabbed her and does not seem to feel an egg in her. She sits on the perch most of the time. Tuck her head under wings, does not eat or drink. I don't know what else i could do to help her :(

If she looks fat maybe she is fluffed up trying to keep warm.
Might try to give her a bit of extra heat. A simple desk lamp in the corner of the cage will work well. Be sure she can get away from the heat if it becomes too much.

good luck
