Normal Pied or Black Face Pied

Post by Flight Feathers » Thu Jan 04, 2018 7:55 pm

So a little while ago someone mentioned to me ( think it was haroun ) that my normal pied was possibly a black face pied because of all the black dots on his face. I have now gotten a very close up photo of my finches face and it definitely looks like he's a black face pied. What do you guys think?

haroun , do you think he is a black face pied? I plan on breeding him to a white which will give me black face babies if he is a black face pied ?? Is this correct?

To much difficult to state, this why i don't like to mixe such as mutation with melaninic mutation. It destroys completly the Nice side of the mutation. Do you know his parents ? Is he the dad of the saddleback and cfw hens?
If it was me i'll not put him with h a white if iwant check breed him for bf mutation cause it will worsen as a major part of white bird are over pied and not pure white. I prefer to put him with grey or fawn.
He looks to saddleback

Yes he is the father of saddle back and CFW I have bred him with a fawn and a normal. The first time I bred him with a normal there was a grey ( not sure if it was black face or not and it had 3 small white dots on its head ) and there was a CFW and a fawn. The 2nd time there was 2 CFW a normal pied and a fawn. And then this time when he was paired with a normal he had the CFW and the saddle back.

Would breeding him to a white hen give me complete Saddlebacks as I'd like to breed some Saddlebacks.

I think he is not bf, breeding him witj a white is the best way. And u can always do a last test mate with a new pure grey for bf factor

With closer up photos we are now able to identify him as a black face pied. The black lines/spots go right through the part that should be white if he was a normal.

He is currently with a grey split to pied hen. Is this just as good?
