Canary and Male Finches

Although they are technically passerines, canaries tend to be managed uniquely, so here is a forum just for them!

Canary and Male Finches

Post by dunker817 » Sat May 12, 2018 9:07 pm

I have a male Spanish Timbrado canary and am wanting to add a female and male gouldian to my aviary but am worried the two males might not get along. Does anyone have any advice on mixing two males?

Thanks a bunch,
Layne

dunker817 I don’t think they will bother as they are different type of bird if it was two gouldians males then they would fight or if it was two canary males they might fight but they won’t bother with each other

I agree with dunker817

Ive had male finches and male canaries together. They didnt interact.

Never had a problem housing these two species together. I have about 25 Goulds now. They totally ignore the canaries and go about their own peculiar courtship behaviors.
Favorite hobby is continuing to improve on a landscaped, weather protected, 500 sq ft mixed aviary with 23 fascinating species. 30 years in the making; currently have
19 different Finch species, 2 types of Doves, plus 23 Button Quail and 30 pair of clear Red Factor Canaries.
