Hi everyone,
would anybody know if strawberry guava plants and their fruits are safe for our birds? I would assume so but want to be sure. We love the fruit and I could easily pot up one of my seedlings to put into my aviary. Pretty, evergreen shrubs that might be perfect for building free standing nests, too.

Re: Strawberry guava
isobea I read on a website that wild birds like the fruit, so I would guess that it is safe for captive birds too.

Re: Strawberry guava
Sally - thank you so much for your response. I have a 4 foot strawberry guava shrub in my yard, twice a year it is laden with delicious fruit. But I've never seen the wild birds eating them (I counted 19 species coming to our bird bath just two weeks ago, so we have plenty of potential 'customers'). That's why I was concerned/wondering. Maybe I will pot up a mid-sized seedling and try it out in the aviary once it is established.
