How to sex them?
Just watch for the singing and dancing?
Or any other ways to tell?

As far as I know, that is the only way to tell the sex on these birds. And they can still fool you, as a subservient male may not sing with a dominant male around, so you think he is a she. If you catch one laying an egg, slap a pink band on it, quick! If you see one that is singing, slap a blue band on.

I guess there would always be DNA testing, but it doesn't take that much to figure them out, just a little time and patience.

I notice when i put the nesting material in only the male brings it to the nest. The female will sometimes show interest in the material but i've never seen any of my female finches carry nesting material to there nest. Males sing and females dont. I foyu have aeggs and there fertile then you have a male and female. If your getting like 2 eggs a day you have to female.

The way I sex my societies ((this method is only for mature adults)). I will put one a lone in its own cage for a couple days. Watch it and observe it, Usually if they're by themselves they will sing if its a male. If no singing for those couple days, chances are its a female.
