New breeding cages

Post by darrell » Thu Apr 16, 2009 8:14 pm

I found plastic trays at fleet farm that are 30''by 21'' so I decided to build some cages. Image I used 1/2'' plywood and 1/2 by1'' wire.

Those are so homey, I am sure that your birds will feel right at home in there. And be laying eggs soon. :D

Did a super job on the cages Darrell. Look very professional. Might want to go ahead in your spare time and get a start on your second set or the flight to hold all the new babies:D Because it appears to me that maybe your "hooked" now on this bird hobby like the rest of use.

I got a pair of gouldians 2 weeks ago, then last saturday I got 3 gouldians at an auction for 30dollars each. 1is a hen and the other 2 are just starting to color up. I think they might be hens too.

Great looking cages. I also like the finishing detail on the roof!

That has to one of the most original cage banks I've ever seen. Looks like a giant birdhouse....... I bet you have built an outside birdfeeder/birdhouse before  Yep, it looks like you are already hooked on these little jewels...and what a deal on the gouldians. Hope you have the best of success

This looks great! Can you show us the sides? I assume that's where you have access to put feeders in etc.? Would love to see what you've done for doors. How do you keep the birds in when the tray is out, or do you have extra trays ready to go in?

So far I only have birds in 2 of the cages so Ijust put in 1 of the clean ones.I put a wire door on the front for the nest boxes and a wood door on the side.I will have to hang a piece of cloth on the inside of the door so the opening isn't so big. Image
