Hi. I have just joined the community and have a question. I have 2 male star finches and want to introduce 2 females to them. The 2 males are currently housed with pair of blue capped cordon bleus. They all get along fine, but the one star finch is definately the king of the aviary and can be a little bossy.
I don't know if its a better idea to separate the star finch males and let them bond to each female individually and then reintroduce the one pair back, or introduce them to each other in the aviary and let them sort each other out.
I find that catching them is quite stressful to the birds, and the other cage i have is very small.

Personally.... I would give it a try. My stars are like the sweetest birds ever. Maybe they will be happier with the girls in there.

Presuming your aviary is big enough to house 6 birds - I too would try it. If it doesn't work out after a day or two - then you may have to separate one pair.

without knowing the size of your aviary it is hard to give an accurate answer to your question

Assuming sizing of the cage is ok. You should have no incident with introducing females to males. Its when you introduce males to males or females to females that there is a territory issue. The cocks will pair off with their hens and territory is already claimed in the cage so the hens will have their respective places.
