sorry   but honest i did band them with rings from 1996 , i couldn't get any others cos its against the law here to sell or give away bands that is registered on your name , and having european birds with no bands will cost you a fortune if they visit you , thats why the 96 ones ...

So maybe I should try and get a contact for the breeder and find out if maybe this was the case. I also figured it couldn't hurt to see if maybe their breeders kept logs and I could find out what their parents were. Check and see if maybe they were split.

Can't hurt to check with the breeder. You can also check with the AACC to see if the person you bought them from actually was the breeder.

But just fyi - it is not illegal to have unbanded birds in Canada.

I noticed that, when you see them at the pet store they are never banded. I was just thinking that if I am planning to breed and sell, I should probably be able to make certain that my own birds don't come back to me. Although anyone can cut off a band.

FYI, the person who sold them to me isn't the breeder, but I think that maybe I should let him know that his suppliers aren't being completely honest with him.
