Java's and societies?

Post by adiekaty » Tue Aug 25, 2009 9:21 am

Can they be housed together? I read the finch info. Just wanted your opinions too. Figured someone here had better experience on this.
The aviary is 4.5 x 4.5 x 8. has 3 society pairs in there now.
would be adding a pair of Java's if you all think it would work
thanks,
adrienne

I had javas with zebras and societies. No problem here. And never had one. And at the time they were in an indoor aviary 5x3x6.

Picked em up this mornin... They are so cute!!!! Did a ton of reading on the internet last night... So im a pro now!!! JUST KIDDING!!!

Anyhow, the parents are almost 2, the babies are weaned(somewhat) and eating on their own (somewhat) starting to get black coloring on their heads... I was going to sell the babies to a friend who has an aviary... but now... IDK...
Isnt that how it happens? a pair turns into several cause you think the babies are "too cute" for anyone else... hahaha!

All is good so far, not adding to the aviary yet, even though a bird shop near here said I could. Hmmm... The society babies started hatching today... should have 8 in the next few days. there is a pet store near here that takes the babies from me and trades for food! Not bad huh? ( or other birds) thats how I got the canary..

Anyhow, my bird crazieness is growing... The canary is in the house and sings up a storm... Just love that lil guy!
The lovebirds have started feeding each other and looks like they will nest soon, they are in a large cage in my daughters room.
And outside in the Aviary and the societies 2 pairs both with eggs and/or babies and 1 (lonely) spice. Soon to have the Java's in there too. didnt realize the size of these birds... Makes the others look so small.

The fella I got them from had the Javas's in an avairy with Goulds. (kinda thought that was weird) but he said they have all been together for over a year. this batch of babies is the Java's second.
I may split them next month to give them a rest. From what I read... they like to breed.
