Well my little female Gold breast is down eating and drinking and preening, hopping around chirping. At least she is eating, sometimes she sits with the other GB or she is sitting alone and calls to them. I can't help but love this little bird.

The Orange cheek in their smaller cage went right to nest building (figures), I gave them plenty of stuff to build with, except the male is bent on getting the leaf of a silk plant connected to the cage) into the nest.

I am ordering 4 new breeder cages, I'll move the Orange cheek into bigger quarters if they haven't gone to nest by the time they arrive.

By the way guys, it is a full moon! It has been one of those days.

Wow, $20.00 is a good price. You must have a lot of breeders in that area. They go for $ 40.00 around these parts but I usually will sell them for $70.00 a pair. ( I would give Cindy a better deal :D )

Cindy, If your husband comes this way on business like you said he does then I will be glad to sell you one.. or a male and a second pair. I had a new fledgling spring the nest today :D This one was fully feathered and ready :D If I dare make a trip towards your way I will let you know and we could meet up somewhere... but I probably won't do the Tallahassee show until spring.
I will search the classifieds and see if I can find someone closer to you. Surely something will work out.

Thank you Candace, I can meet you part way...road trip!

I checked the on line ads and newspapers for the Tampa area all the way down the west coast to Naples. I even emailed bird clubs from here to Naples. Not a lot of people down here do finches, they have more of the bigger birds. I would prefer to buy from someone I know has nice healthy birds. Keep me posted on your fledglings, I'd love to have a few Cando birds added to my family.

I am hopping to have new cages by next week. If I get another male GB I am going to put each pair in their own cage. The big cage will be a baby cage!!!!

Just for clarification, those prices were in Atlanta, not by me. And those prices ranged from 45 to 18 for a single GB. In my area GBs are unheard of so you can name your own price. When I spoke to a few people interested in them, I was offered prices between 50 - 100 dollars a piece.
Goulds, Owls, Gold Breasts, Stars, Zebras, Societies
An obscene number of chicks and eggs
And an incredibly rare St. Goldena Breast finch
Anyone want some finches???

up date on my little girl....the three little Gold breast are flitting around, bathing together. the one male pokes at the little lone one but I think is accepting her. they all sit on top of nest together, eat together. I am waiting a bit and getting another pair and a male for her in October, or sooner if I have the opportunity. These are such sweet little birds. Thank you everyone for your help and support.

Sad to hear you lost your male.Isolate the female and try to get a new mate for her.If she has any eggs, try to foster them under societies or spices.

I would rather not isolate her, she is getting along fine with the pair, all 3 eat and drink together. There are no eggs so far. I don't own societies or spice or zebra.

The three preen each other and seem to be fine. I am getting her a mate and 1 more pair mid October when the breeder will be in the area. After quarantine they will join my exsisting pair in the flight.

Isolating her will break her spirit. They all fly together first thing in the morning, I see no aggression. At night she sleeps in her own nest and the pair sleep in theirs. In the morning the all come out of the nests, chat and flutter around, then feed. She is always the first one to try out a new cup or treat.
