We have...
Hi, newly in this forum. My husband and I have 4 lady gouldians (that are breeding), 2 Shaftail and 2 Longtails. But pretty soon we are going to have lots more of babies. One pair of gouldians already have 5 babies, and the other two have already 3 eggs. The Shaftail pair already did their nest
so for us, this was our lucky month
. Thank you for creating this educational and interesting forum.

Hi, Gaviota; welcome! Did your shafttail pair just build their nest, or did they already lay eggs and raise their babies?

It is no problem! Your english is much better than my Spanish!
I saw the photos you added to the gallery; they are great! I might put some of them on finchinfo.com under the species profiles if you don't mind. The thing that really struck me about your shaft-tail pair is how dark red both birds' beaks are. Usually the hen will have a lighter beak than the cock, but if they are housed alone and you see eggs in their nest, I guess you have a true pair! Here is hoping they lay more eggs, incubate, and have babies!
I do not currently have any shaft-tails, but I have had a few pairs in the past. They are great birds! They really make me laugh when they land on a perch and bob their heads. Very charismatic birds.

I bought my Shaftail in Pet Supermarket and by the way; the Sales Associate did'n't know which one was the hen and which one was the cock; my husband selected them and we got it

You're welcome, it inspired me to take some pictures of my own. I added my two nuns to the gallery
Their names are Rowan and Juniper. I have an obsessive compulsion to name everything - birds, plants, stuffed animals
My canary pics did not turn out. (his name is Ferdinand and he is singing now)

Here in the States, it's illegal to trap and cage native Goldfinches. While I support the conservation laws, I would love to have a pair. They're beautiful and have a pretty song. I've loved them since I was a kid in Illinois but I don't know if they live this far south or if I just live in a too urban area to see them.
There are Euro Goldfinches in aviculture. They're not the stunning yellow/black but I have heard they're prized for their song, too.

Here is my collection:
8 budgies
1 canary (only a few months out and only sqeaks. How it sings soon.)
1 Jack Russel
3 red eared waxbills
2 society
1 african silverbill (I thought it was a society at first)
1 green singer (looking for a mate for her)
20+ zebras (most are babies but I keep the white and fawn ones; I just love the way they look)
Future birds I wish to acquire: Star, and Lady Gouldians.
