Parrot Finch - first time parents! (fledged today 9/05/10)

Thanks everyone - I'm so thrilled they are looking after these after refusing to sit on all the previous eggs (even the first three eggs of this clutch). At least they have finally picked up on it. Hopefully I won't have to foster for this pair anymore. It's such a great feeling when it all comes together for a pair.

These first time parents managed to feed, raise and fledge one of the three chicks. The other two died along the way. I'm not sure why they didn't seem to feed the other two as well as this one but fortunately he has fledged today, right on schedule and fully feathered! I'm still very proud of them for getting this far.

Sorry they only raised this one, but it is still a victory--maybe now they have figured it out, they will do better next time. This one looks great.

Thanks Sally! I agree - hopefully this was the learning curve they needed to get over the hurdle. At least they did manage to get one fledged. I'm sure next time will be better.
