Hello,

Sally is it easy to stack three (or four) of this cages? Are your cages 14020 HQ Stackable Bird Breeding Cages? Picture dscn0718.jpg is AMAZING. Looks like you have a bit nature in your home :)) =D>
Yes, these stack easily, because each cage has little feet on top of each corner that hold the next cage in place, very secure. I don't know why they quit selling these as a triple stack or a quad stack--they use the same base, and all they would have to do is put three or four of these cage units on a base and sell them that way. I guess someone could buy two of the 14020 and stack them using only one base. I love the fact that I get four 40x20x20 cages in the 40x20 floor space.

Curious me!

These photos were taken back in October 2009, but I think that was when I was trying out some coconut chips as bedding. I saw it on someone's website as bedding in their aviary, so I thought I'd try it. I had a heck of a time locating any, finally found a company in Canada which mailed me some. But it got held up in customs for weeks--in fact, I'd forgotten all about it when it finally arrived. And then after all that hassle, I wasn't that thrilled with it as bedding. Right now, I'm trying a hay mixture which is timothy, orchard grass, brome hay--very soft, and it sure does smell good! Trying to find a bedding that will not look as bad as newspaper does when it gets soiled, something that can go a little longer between cleanings.
Over here Sally I buy bales of a hemp based product. It's readily available here from equestrian suppliers.
Paul, I'll have to check around and see if there is anything like that for sale around here. I did try a packaged pine pellet that was sold for use as stall bedding for horses. It was OK, kiln-dried so not too much pine scent, though it crumbled to bits when it got wet, but then the store changed suppliers, and the next lot I got had such a strong pine scent, it even bothered me, not to mention the birds. I'm still using the hay in the breeding cages, though it is messy, and in the non-breeding cages, I've gone back to using the Oil-dri product.
