Yes, my pair are normals. Male is Red head, purple chest, and green back, with blue on his tail. The female is just a very dilute version of the male, and has more black on her head (a darker red color).
So far they're doing well, and settled into their new home. Cage is all decorated with fake plants, a nest for them, and natural apple tree branches. They seem very happy. Such cheery little birds! They're a lot more active than I would have ever thought.
Gonna do it, take the plunge into gouldian mania!!!

I was told I would always regret getting Gouldians... I don't. SUre they are somewhat more likely to get ill besides the hardier Zebras, but I really like their natures and personality.
Enjoy the journey. I'm sure any Gouldians in your care will thrive and in no time at all you will have to get more cages to accomodate the craving for another colour combination!

Think hard about what colors you want to ultimately get. Then plan what birds you want to get that color. Otherwise you might be wasting $ and time on color schemes that don't fit your plan and goal.
That is what happened to me. I got diverted away from my RH-WB-YB goal, and my $ and effort went into other color schemes. Yes I got nice OH-PB-GB chicks and blue chicks, but no RH-WB-YB chicks

Cindy,
I got home from work today... and...and...and....
After only 4 days of the new goulds being home at my house, the female has already laid an egg in their nest! I can't believe my luck. I knew the female was in breeding condition as her beak is a very dark grey, almost black color. They're such gorgeous birds! You're gonna love them!

I go back and forth on whether to get them or not....making room right now is the thing...I have birds I adopted in quarantine that needed a home, so some of my cages are in use. Lots of mutations of zebra babies hatched and hatching, shaft tail nesting...owls by the bushel!!!! Once the babies go then I will go through my breeding stock and decide what I am going to keep, concentrate on...I should have room in a couple of months.
