Sweet story of devotion. The true bonds birds make do last a lifetime :D Sorry for your loss Cindy, but sure am glad they were in your care when the time came. I am sure you made her as comfortable as possible and will do your best to bring him happiness.

I am so sorry you lost such a loving pair, in the loss of his mate. I agree our finches demonstrate many emotions and personalities. I see that in other animals as well. As a result, I just have to believe God has a place for them when they die, in Heaven. [-o< [-o< RIP sweetie; one so loved :( .
