To answer Brian's question and also potentially the OP's question:
I do not know that TMS or the 4-in-1 would truly be effective in treating Coccidiosis.
The reason why I use and recommend baycox is because Vonda has proven this to eradicate it from infected birds via her own personal fecal runs. I wanted to link to her health site (http://www.finchfiles.com) but it looks like it is down.
Her instruction site regarding fecal smears is: http://www.finchaviary.com/Maintenance/FecalSmear.htm
I wouldn't have thought Cocci based on your description because you would expect them to have messy vents. From your description I am leaning more towards something like Avian Gastic Yeast or some other stressed induced pathogen like Candida (though that seems less likely because it's not exactly "contagious").
The AGY would be spread through contaminated drinking water or food, and it is nearly impossible to get rid of. A vet could diagnose it with a fecal or you could try getting in touch with someone in the avian community like Vonda or Kristen Reeves who might be able to perform a fecal for you.

Re: Coccidiosis??
I pm'd alexmom and she contacted Joanne and is waiting for a return call. I also gave her Loraine's number and suggested she contact her as well and see who gets back to her faster. She is trying her best to find the cause and treat her finches. We can all say a prayer and learn from others experiences, even though it is scary when losing finches like that..

Thanks. I knew she would get the help and I hope she can save the rest of her finches.
