Re: Help me, unidentified disease on finches
thanks kenny66,
What do you mean by " non of these is to run concurrently "? You mean I should try only one of them or use all of the 3 continuously ?

Dear Kenny66,
I'm very happy that Baycox is sold locally since it is a Bayer product ( Bayer have factory in Vietnam ). I've founded it on Vietnam's Bayer Website
Nilstatin is sold under tablet form for human !!
Similarly, there is no Trichomoniasis treatment for birds, just only for women.
Could you give me more info of the exact meds that you mentioned before. Thank you so much !!

Re: Help me, unidentified disease on finches
Nilstat is available by prescription in capsule form only but you can buy Nilstat liquid from any pharmacy over the counter with no prescription. It is for Thrush. Treatment is 2 drops to the beak orally. The manufacturer in Asisa is Aspen Pharmaceuticals
Trichominiasis is commonly referred to as Canker and is particularly prevalent in pigeons. You should be able to obtain the drug from any pigeon breeder/club or supply company.

Re: Help me, unidentified disease on finches
Hi Duchatinh
Sorry it's taken me so long to reply.
Looking at what you have given in the past helps to see what you have treated for.
The ESB3 will cover coccidiosis (though my vet suggests I use it for 3 consecutive days, stop for two days, then repeat for another 3 days.) This I do every 4 months and I have no problems with Cocci.
The Ampicillin is a general bacterial antibiotic. It treats gram positive and negative bacterias general infections of intestinal nature, urinary tract and upper respiratory.
The Colistin sulphate is an antibiotic for gram negative bacteria, so will cover things like E-coli, Salmonella.
I've no idea what the Neosyl does. It looks like a silica compound carrier substance.
SO if you've treated for bacterial infections and for cocci, I'd suggest you treat for protozoal infection. It can do no harm. I do this treatment in my aviary every 4 months too, though try not to administer medication if there are young babies in the nest. (Though in your case, it would probably be worth the risk)
The drug you must try find will have an active ingredient of RONIDAZOLE. This will treat Protozoan diseases, such as for the prevention and treatment of Trichomoniasis, Hexamitosis, Cochlostomiasis and Giardia.
I use a product called Medizole. As suggested by my vet, 5 days consecutive treatment in their water, two days stop, then repeat again for another 5 days.
If this is the problem, then I would repeat this treatment every 3-4 months as a preventative, especially before breeding season.
The treatment for yeast would not go amiss either as Kenny suggested. Nystatin is the active ingredient in the medication. I use a powder form which you can add to water or their soft food called Medistatin.
I have no idea what med's you can get, but search for their active ingredients. Like you I also land up using many poultry medications. They seem safe though for finches so long as you use the correct dosage as instructed.
Also have you treated for worms/internal parasites? I cannot remember if you wrote something about that or not. just try get something that does tapeworms and others.
Best wishes.

Re: Help me, unidentified disease on finches
oh yes forgot to add. As a maintenance you can add a little apple cider vinegar to their drinking water will help keep their crops acidic and yeast infections under control. Though this will not cure whatever is going through your birds at the moment. This may help later on once they are better as a preventative.
Again. Just another option that can do no real harm as we are giving advice without any professional help.

Re: Help me, unidentified disease on finches
Thank you guys,
Unfortunately, that may take me a long time to undentify the disease as well as find the exact meds for the birds. Because right now, all the birds isn't sick, the bird i showed you guys some days before is now healed himself. I have to wait until some birds are affected again to try the treatments. I treat the worms by S76 concurrently with air sac mites treatment. There is now 2 ten days clutches, which is pretty good health ultil now. I can guess they will get through the feeding time. But i know for sure, the disease will come back after several of months....

Try find the med's. You can treat them even if they are not sick as a prevention. Why wait till more are sick?
If it were my birds I'd definately try another wormer.
S76 will kill only some worms and does not kill Tapeworm (which can be quite a killer if you have an infestation). Try get some Worm away or Equimax oral. Both these kill tapeworms too.
3 treatments I give every quarter are de-wormer, Coccidiosis, Protozoal for prevention. I have an outdoor aviary which obviously allows the birds easier access to pick up diseases, but there is no harm in keeping these sort of preventative medications up to date. Even in cage birds.

Re: Help me, unidentified disease on finches
Monotwine has the idea, prevention ,I would consider getting all the products that were mentioned or similar and start a preventative schedule which you can document down on a calendar and you may be surprised that doing a preventative schedule you may find that your birds don't get sick as often. Some sound advice was given.
