Good news- the male so far is doing a great job taking over caring for all the babies (6 of them!) since Mom died on Tuesday. I can't believe how much food he's going through! I replenish all the seed, eggfood, sprouted seed, and veggies a couple times during the day. He still sings for the female to come back, but sadly that won't be happening. Now when I hear him sing I feel sad when singing is usually supposed to be a happy sound :( .

That is such good news! Six is a really big clutch, so keep up with the eggfood, sprouted seed, and veggies. If food runs out or low when they are feeding babies, they will sometimes abandon or toss some to cut down on the number of mouths they have to feed, thinking that the food is running out. He is being such a super daddy, once these babies are weaned, you can think about getting him a new mate. That will make him happy!
