She is a lutino, so the red colored eyes are normal. Thay don't look irritated. How is the breathing now?

She seems to be fine. She really likes jumping out of the nest I use to feed them in and sitting under things :) I'm still listening in case the clicking sound comes back, but so far she seems to be fine. I'm going to go get one more Budgie baby from the breeder that we didn't bring home because he/she was too young, so I intend to bring this little girl by to see her to get her opinion. Meanwhile I'm going to continue giving her love and good energy. Ooh she's also started eating millet :D I put some in the baby Budgie cage and the baby Cockatiel cage because they seemed a bit bored and both like millet. Although I'm not 100% sure if either of them are really eating it or just playing with it. Either way it's fine by me.

Just to verify, is it possible that this was caused only by stress and there are no underlying issues that came up because of the stress and will come up again because of stress?

She's still doing well, though I think I scratched her nose while feeding her :( That or I hurt a blood feather above her nose. I'm keeping an eye on her, but I think the bleeding stopped. I'll put a bit of flour on there if it still looks bright red in 10 minutes.

Aww she is so cute, glad she is okay. A minor scrath is fine, don't sweat it. She is young and will moult out the blood feather soon enough if that was the case.

Yup, she's fine, apparently I was the only one worried. She also seems to have washed the blood off. She's been really happy lately because we moved her out of the cage with her younger sibling and into her own cage. It's small, but she likes it. She especially likes the swing and her new toys. Oddly enough yesterday she all of a sudden started climbing around and flapping her wings and being rather active, which is why we decided it was time to move her into a different cage.

Oh by the way her name is Mustard

She seems a lot happier being away from the crying baby. Man that baby has lungs. My sister chose the name and I think it's too adorable to argue against. Also she's a low calorie bird lol.

Lol, I was kidding. Mustard suits her. I bet that baby was annoying! What older sibling wouldn't try to get away! Lol

Okay something is wrong with her and I've known for 2 days, but can't pinpoint it. We haven't been able to move her away from the heat and she tends to be fluffy. It's gotten worse recently. Now in the past she had one nostril stuffy, then the next day the other, so I did what I did what the vet told me to do when Jalebi had a stuffy nose and did a nasal rinse with saline solution. That seems to have helped her nose, though I think I'll do another one to see if that helps clean out the dry stuff in her nose. My mom doesn't want to take her to the vet because our finances are tight until we sell the other house. There isn't clicking when she breathes, her heart sounds fine and she's eating a ton, but she's started to lose weight. I don't know if it's related to the original clicking or not. I think she's coughing sometimes. It seems different than sneezing. I have a bunch of medicines that I picked up from a breeder getting out of the hobby and have selected 4 that might be useful. There's Spectovet, Probiotics, Amoxitex, and Thrive. Oh I also have colloidal silver. The breeder thinks she might not be drinking enough and that's why she's fluffy. I made sure she got some water last night and earlier today she drank from my hand at the tap. Also she was great at flying before, but she can't fly as well anymore. What do you guys think?

I also think that she might have gradually become sick over a longer period of time, which is why I'm having trouble seeing symptoms vs. normal behavior. I fed her some baby food with probiotics in it a little after posting on here. I'm hoping that will help a bit. Tomorrow I'm bringing her to the breeder so she can give her opinion and if she's not sure, I will bring her to the vet and set up a payment plan and just pay it off as I earn money.

Sorry I can't help you with this, as I know nothing about budgies. I should probably move this thread to the All Things Hookbill forum, but I think it should stay where it is a bit longer till you get some answers. It can always be moved later. I think you definitely should consult with the breeder before contacting an avian vet, the breeder may be able to help you. It is so difficult to diagnose over the web, and using the wrong meds can be worse than doing nothing.

TOD 6:14 pm. Sadly she didn't make it. While I feel bad that I didn't get her into the vet in time, I strangely am at peace with it. I was going to take her to the vet, but my Mom got a hold of a couple people and they all agreed trying worming would be better than subjecting her to tests. Well I guess the stress of driving around weakened her. I dropped my mom off, then was going to do a few things in the area and uncovered her at my first stop to check on her and she was laying on the ground, having trouble moving her legs and using her wings instead. I got really worried and called the vet office, but the doctor had already left and there was an additional $110 for urgent care because the doctor had to come back in. I then drove around the corner and broke into tears. I called Jean at Adventure's In Birds and told her everything and she feels that it was genetic. She feels that the only reason why she lasted this long was because I was still trying to work to keep her going. For example I've been making her eat baby formula mixed with thrive and probiotics for the past few days. She seemed to improve a little on that, but not enough. Well Jean said there was probably nothing I could do, but I said I hadn't given her the baby formula today because I was running around and she said maybe that would help and to hurry home and try. All this time I was sitting in a hot car to make sure Mustard didn't become chilled. Well as we went she worsened and I told her to hold on. I started telling her about everyone who loves her from animals to humans. About how even my sisters who aren't partial to birds love her. My youngest sister even gave her her name. And how my bf kept saying that he claimed her as his bird. How even my mom was willing to deal with the vet bill despite the fact that we're a bit tight on money because of the two mortgages. Then I went on to tell her about life and all that there is to experience from tasting all kinds of foods to flying intricate patterns. I told her about a beautiful cage we want to get and set up for Budgies and another double flight cage which we finally figured out how to setup.

I'm continuing this post today because I had to pick my mom up from work, then didn't have the emotional energy to write this, then just didn't have the time, but I guess now that Mustard and the Green Singer have been laid to rest and their bodies can now become new life (specifically a passion flower plant) I can finish this. The event and above post are from 9/22/2012.

I told her about as many aspects of bird life as I could think of, then I told her about my life and my experiences and the ups and downs and how I got through my downs. About mid way I told her it was okay to die and I wouldn't hold her here, but she stayed. Toward the end at the traffic light she flailed and looked like she was declining rapidly, so I took her out and cuddled her. Shortly after we ended up in our drive way and I cuddled her and tried to keep talking, but I ran out of words and things to say. I think she knew and stayed around long enough to let me finish and say good bye. The entire time she looked at me as best she could, if a convulsion moved her out of eye shot, she would use her wings to shift herself back. At the end when I took her out I wiped millet hulls out of her eye and cuddled and loved her and she had one last convulsion, then she passed away. I kept cuddling her body and I moved the top of her beak out from behind her bottom beak. I closed her eyes. I moved her wings into a more normal position and tried to put her toes in a more comfortable position. And after a little while I put her back in the cage and brought her into the house. Honestly I hope I die like her. It wasn't easy, but there was a peacefulness about it. She made peace with the world perhaps. I'm not really sure. I guess the best way to explain it is most of the time, when I think about her I end up smiling because I think of what a happy Budgie she was and how she listened and understood how much she is loved. How everyone loved her, even my sisters who don't like birds. How my youngest was the one who dubbed her Mustard. I love her and I kind of felt her presence in Seeta's egg. I feel like she was reincarnated in it, but I messed up again. I want to believe that the universe has a way of making things right, but I'm worried I messed up too many times. I hope Mustard's spirit will come back one last time and that I can do things right that time.

Today we finally buried her and the Green Singer. I dug a hole two days ago, but life has been so unpredictable and full that I didn't have the chance to finish. We were going to put a Grapevine over them, but my grandmother is uncomfortable with eating something that has used someone we love as nutrients, so we planted a Passion Flower vine instead. I guess I missed a person who loves Mustard, I guess even my grandmother loves her. It's amazing how many people fell in love with her over such a short amount of time. oh there are also my cousins. So much love for such a young little bird. I'm glad she felt so much love before she moved on.

I'm sorry, my thoughts are wandering, it just doesn't feel like the end of this post for some reason. I guess I have to end it at some point and I can always post another post if I have something else to say.
