Your birds feed sounds pretty good...serve the pellets off to the side of the seed (do not mix it in the seed unless you know they are eating it). You will be able to tell if they are eating it by the powder in the bottom of the dish. If they do not like this then try a container of the Lafebers finch pellets (PetSmart carries it). Zupreem makes a fruit blend for finches as well.

Keeping it separate for a bit before mixing it in will help you see if they are actually eating it, place the dish close to the seed mix.

My three Societys were already eating Zupreem Fruit pellets when I got them from local pet store. Being new to finches, I fed lots of spray millet and health-boost seed blend as treats (OK, maybe my husband is right- I spoiled them). Have noticed they prefer the seeds- still eating the pellets but not as eagerly.

From what I just read: should I stop the seed 'treats' to get birds back on mainly pellets?
Didn't realize I had a good thing going....hope it's not too late to switch them back. (only had them 6 weeks).

I would personnally keep their diet as is for now. With eggs ready to hatch I wouldn't want to change anything. If you want to make a change, do it after the chicks have fledged and started to eat on their own.

BTW congrats =D>

I would do as Janine said and as the chicks fledge I would offer it separately to them....the young are curious about everything and should wean onto it...or blend a bit of it into the seed mix.
