I tried playground sand in my aviary, and it looks just awesome.
It looks clean and I do maintenance at least more than a month or so. Finches seems to enjoy it too. Playground sand is not too expensive. they fill the trunk of my truck for 39 dlls. and it will last more than a year for sure.
Gouldians start a new clutch in the last 2 days, 2 beautiful eggs has been layed in the nest. hope (finger crossed) they can make some beautiful babys!

I have playground sand in my aviary on the concrete part under where the birds like to perch and under the feeding areas. Makes it easier to clean with a mesh scoop.
