I have many of those bottles, since I have 4 hamsters.
Do you think that the birds will figure it out by themselves though?
I'm a hamster freak and I'm loving it! Currently loving 3 hammies.

Laura, I've never used hamster water bottles, but I've seen people teach their birds to drink from a synthetic teat they use for feeding baby cats, so anything is possible.
Just remember not to remove the water bottles they are used to all together before they are comfortable to drink from the new water source.
There are ways to teach them, I found it most effective to remove the water source they are used to for an hour or two at a time, if the birds are thirsty they will search for other water sources.

30x18x18 is FINE for a pair of finches,
I us ethese a sbreedin gcages and then Have larger cages growing out and OFF season rest and socializing,
As for vacations I would find someone to come in daily but thats me I change my birds water DAILY because bacteria is a killer to the finches.

if your still looking for cheap cages, try ebay. i dunno about how much the p&p is to where you live but i got a cage 150cm high, 80cm long and 60cm wide for just €60/$94! thats including p&p.

Thanks, but I don't use eBay much. Most of the time, the price of the item is great but the shipping is like,
