FeatherHarp-- I like Semper Fid. :) It's still just short of Fidelis that way, too. I hope all of the birds pull through. I've been doing a lot of reading online and I know they are already in a better place than they were. I'll just do the best I can. Even if they don't all improve, their last days will be far more pleasant.

Lonchuraboi- Some of the better looking birds are already getting more comfortable. I saw one of the males singing and dancing a bit ago. It was so cute, and they have a very interesting song.

their song is variable, the first male i had just repeted the same two notes over and over, it went something like "do-do-do-do- chiw-chiw-chiw-chiw" but their song is normaly very complex and very plesant.

they have a very obvious threat display to one another where they wil gape the beak and sway their head from side to side and this is normaly a very serious "dont dare come closer" sort of gesture. they sldom come to blows and most of the fighting is bil fencing and alot of loud chattering.

a bonded pair will have a nice greeting ritual, lol, but my memory fails me how exactly it goes. usualy its the male i think will "stab" the perch between his feet and chatter soflty, sometimes bobing up and down.. but its been so long since ive seen it so im not sure.
the mating dispaly is facinating to watch, the male will aproach the female holding a "gift" of nesting material, he holds his head bowed forward with his back arched, then he drops the the nest material and takes a deep bow and begins making a grinding/clicking noise with his beak while bouncing up and down and begining his song, usualy just a few loud chrips at first, occasionly stabbing/rubbing his beak on the pearch between his feet. he then begings singing loudly and bouncing violently, he begins to shuffle towards the female. if she wants to mate she will take a rigid pose, tilting her head back and shivering her tail. they will then mate and chatter loudly. he then dismounts and restarts his display but cuts it short and the pair will have a short bout of bill fencing and then usualy they snugle up for some mutual grooming

Beccafigs, it sounds like you were meant to have those birds, to rescue them from a not-so-great home. They may look ratty now, but it is amazing how they can turn around with good food and attention.
