I have a pair of timbrado canaries in with my Gould's and have never had a problem. The male canary sings all the time. Each pair just seem to go about their own business. Their cage is in the din where we come and go all day and they never get spooked or seem upset or flighty. I love having them where I can see and enjoy them anytime!

That's why I want to house them together in the living room. Originally, I wanted the Goulds in our bedroom, but with more thinking, our living room has a skylight, and I think if the larger cage was place just so, the light would shine down and really show off their beautiful colors.

To me, the best part of having birds, is to have them housed where they are part of the family, and everyone can enjoy them. Watching "Finch TV" is the feature entertainment here. :-D
Gouldians and several other species have been raised successfully in our kitchen, and living room flight/aviaries.

Flighty, 'nervous' waxbills, ie, Cordon Bleus, Strawberries seem to want and need more privacy.

I usually have a single male canary in with the finches. A few months out of the year, they must be taken out, due to breeding season, and while not 'aggressive', they can be very disruptive. Right now my Timbrado is in a separate cage, while the Gloster is his usual laid-back self in the living room.

Aviaries have FS lighting on timers, covered at night, with LED rope lights as night lights.

Enjoy your birds!
