Babs, my ringnecks eat safflower seeds too. The Javas are hit or miss with them. The oat groats are their favorite!

When my old Java pair was fostering babies I was impressed how long they kept feeding. They assisted the society finches in feeding their fledges, and one little chick just lagged behind. Something was wrong with it, and it was stunted. Those Javas fed it for six weeks or longer out of the nest, way after its parents stopped, until it learned to eat on its own. The poor thing passed away at a young age and obviously had internal issues but it wouldn't have made it that far without the Javas helping it. They're the best parents.

lovezebs and Sheather - You guys crack me up. Just got back from the gym and found your oh so creative ideas. I do, do, do appreciate everybody wanting to help. I think it just might work. If not, I might just have to appeal to Santa again. And then there is always a new year right around the corner with new yet unknown opportunities.

A friend asked me on Saturday if I would sell them to him because he just finished his brand new huge aviary and couldn't find any anywhere that were acclimated to outdoor temperatures. So I caught them this morning and drove them out to his house. And yes, they will live in paradise now. BUT when I came home in the afternoon, I cleaned up a bit in my aviary and found 5 (in words: five) new eggs! Can't be anybody else's because Mrs gold breast was the only female in my aviary. What kind of contortion would make it possible to kick myself?

As for kicking yourself, you are the one going to the gym (yoga?) so you should be able to figure that one out for yourself
I want to see pictures of that by the way, so hand hubby the camera while you warm up for the great 'kick off".

lovezebs - Minnie Mouse is not such a bad idea. My girlfriend caught 'the cutest little mouse' (her words) in one of those live traps in her kitchen pantry yesterday. Today now, she said there are two more in the house: one in the living room, the other one in the kitchen. Do you think the omelette would be big enough for a whole mouse family?
Skipped the gym today (had to run errands) but will go again tomorrow and try to make up for today - tomorrow night will be the 5-course Chinese X-mas dinner of our orchid club.
And this is just the beginning of the holiday festivities... Might have to hire a personal trainer in January.
