whatever the reason some birds never bathe or are never seen doing it lol
once the really hot weather gets here each summer, days over 40c, I have found that quite a few of my finches enjoy a shower. all I do is use the garden hose and set it for a fine mist spray. gouldians sit there directly under it for as long as it is turned on lol
Addicted to Finches, yes I do admit it.
I pray they never find a cure.

Thanks Bill, Liz and Mickp.

Most of the time weather here in our place is hot and as Mickp told, I have seen during my visit to a local birds dealer house that gouldians are most interested in taking bath in the drinking water dish than star/shaft tail/zebra finches. So only just thought to check with you all on this.

When I brought my GBs home I put a terra cotta saucer down for them to bath in. They seemed nervous of it, and wouldn't bath. Seemed odd to me, since my Societies loved it. So I laid a spray of millet half in/half out of the water. That tempted them! Now they don't hesitate to bath! It's so cute to watch all 4 babies get in the bath together. Poor Mom & Dad have to wait their turn now!
