My poor lost voice female zebra finch passed away yesterday afternoon. I treated her w/ Iverlux & antibiotics (baytril) but nothing worked for her. She slowly started to get worse.... she seemed to have difficulty gasping the air by closing & opening her mouth. Then she went to the corners of the cage & sitting on the bottom of the cage. She started to get puffed up. Yesterday, she widely opened her eyes, looking up & her opening & closing her mouth got faster and I knew, she would be gone. She fell on the bottom of the cage so I picked her up and held her in my hand and watched her slowly closing her eyes... her soul flew away out of her body. I'm very sad but like my boyfriend said, she's no more in pain. But I miss her so much.

Aw, I'm so sorry. Glad you were there to ease her passing (as hard as it is to watch them go).

Oh...I know just how you feel....I held my male gouldian during his last moments.....It sure is hard to watch them fade away.

It would have been nice to know just what your Zebra's illness was so if you had the same problem show up with another bird you would know what to do.
