lol no kidding they're not adventurous. I put a little wedge of orange between the bars of each of their cages and the room went silent for a good 10 minutes while the two of them sat and stared at their piece of orange. The little female is sitting below the orange slice now and seems to be trying to pluck up the courage to go have some. Alfred is sitting in his seed cup eating. Maybe he has been eating more than I thought and I haven't been giving him enough :( I do look through the left overs before I dump them to check for whole seeds, but maybe there's too many hulls and he's not picking through to the bottom. The seed is in a deep dish for him, he sits in the dish to eat. His previous owners tried to give him millet, but he'd sit on the floor of the cage until it was removed :? so hopefully Andie can teach him that it's not really that scary lol.
Thank you for the articles, I read them both and I don't think it's worms, he hasn't had any exposure that would have given him the worms and his stools are normal. Hopefully he isn't "going light" that'd be pretty upsetting, considering I just nursed his eye and got him a girlfriend. I hope that all his activity is a good sign.
I'll post tomorrow after I put the two of them together :)

Another thought - keep in mind that they won't dig down to find seed in a deeper dish. If the top is full of hulls, he may figure the food is gone.

oh I didn't know they wouldn't dig down! I bet that's what's wrong :( the little guy's dish is always covered with hulls I bet he figured he was out of food. Ok well hopefully he starts putting the weight back on, the dishes in this new cage are longer so the hulls won't pile up on top before most of the seed is eaten.
I finally got him to eat some orange and spinach! I cut the rind off the orange and just put the segment (juicy bit) in their treat cup on top of their spinach and they were nibbling last night. Today I'm going to try a little mango :)

Congrats on the new foods! If you run short of time, I just cut my oranges into rounds and they pick the juicy stuff out of the center, just leaving the orange skin and pith.
