Thanks for the reply! I'll go for galvanized and painted then.

And oh, regarding the project that this thread is relly about, are there any pictures out of the finished aviary and its inhabitants?
Finch nerd in Sweden, caring for Canary, Gouldian finch, Star finch, Owl finch, Parrot finch, Society finch, Grass finch, Fire finch, Sydney Waxbill & Button quail... so far.
