It's nighttime and the birds are asleep, this group of bichenos decided to sleep in an odd place, on the front perch next to the large plastic/mesh window. Would have thought that's among the coldest places to sleep, guess they arn't bothered by it. One of the fawns is on top of the others, heh.

Found a fawn bicheno dead today, there was 20 masked grass finches and 7 bichenos in there, the temperature has not dropped below 50 degrees at night, during the day it's often around 80+.

Does anyone know if it's likely the cold that killed it? 50 degrees isn't exactly life threateningly cold and all of the other birds are fine.

The only thing is I had these birds in my house for 2 months before moving them into the new aviary, within 3 days of the move 1 bicheno is dead.

One thing to note is that this bird had an injured eye, I noticed this before I even moved them out to the aviary, one of her eyes was completely closed although it did appear to be healing as it was gradually opening the eye more and more, then it died suddenly.

So so for your loss  I would assume that it was probably weaker due to her injury.

Sorry for your loss,I think the eye injury and the cooler weather was the problem but you just don't know for sure [-o<
