I agree! The mites must have a host and cannot live long outside of the bird. I wipe down my perches and change out my branches weekly. I use Vikron diluted water to do this along with a good spray of Thieves in the aviary. It smells so good and is good for the birds.

I have a Pair of Canaries.I also have an Aviary(video) with a bunch of finches in it.
Red cheek Cordon blues, Owls,Star finches, Green singers,Fire Finches, Orange cheek wax bills and a lone Orange weaver.

I have a question. I have 2 pairs of goulds that both have fledges they are still feeding. They are due for their round of ASM treatment. Is it safe to give them s76 in the water if they are still feeding young and if the young get it how do you treat it or more like whats a safe age for scatt or s76 ?

You're not supposed to use SCATT on birds younger than 6 months of age.
My understanding is that the S76 or Iverlux is safe to use for parents feeding babies.
