Rummy loves it....it was gone in minutes!!! I like this recipe, it inclues proteins, adding pellets (which contains minerals and vitamins) and veggies. Mixing well blends it all together and grinding it makes it easy for them to eat. Thank you Debbie!!!

I don't want to dilute the protein amount so I add nothing else. Served thinly on a plate it will dry out before it goes bad. All my birds love it.

Debbie, that looks like a great idea for keeping it dry!

Cindy that looks delicious! I almost want to try it myself. If I didn't already know what was in it I'd definitely want to try it lol

Dante - She's the opposite of me. I was a tomboy when I was a kid and she is like "Ahh! Where's my purse? I can't leave without my purse!" and will refuse to where anything except a dress lol.

Debbie - I love that idea and they sure do look like worms! If only you could trick birds that need live food with these, maybe one day I'd get some!
Owls, Goulds, European Goldfinch, Red Belly Siskins and Zebs... For now...

 Sounds just like my cousin!!!! She argues with her mom if the smallest detail about her alfit is off, for example, she was complaing because her shoes were pink and white, but her shirt was a different color pink, nobody else can see it but her! I guess toddlers are the new fashionistas?

I think the zebras could smell the dried egg mox when i entered the birdroom...they were so excited. They dove into it. The owls were in it off and on for about an hour.

One qquestion, since it is baked...how long can we keep it out?

That is great!! And last time I made birdie bread, I cut a slice for the rest of the week, and froze the rest. You can thaw it out in the microwave and it is always fresh.

What I want to know is how long to leave it in the cage before removing it.

Oh! I think leaving it in all day and giving them fresh every morning should be fine. It is like leaving out a slice of toast, it gets stale but never really molds. Well atleast I left mine out for that long without any problems.

That is what I though Sherry...you figure when you make cornbread it usually is kept covered on the counter, putting in the fridge makes it moist. Cornbread in general does not last long here, my husband love it!

Not trying to spoil what appears to be a good and easy egg food recipe, but is the sugar, salt and lard in the jiffy corn muffin mix healthy for baby birds? Bob

1 boston/jack russel terrier mix
