No name, I just call him sweetie pie (but I call everything sweetie pie!). Since I'm not keeping him, I don't want to name him.

but a few ignorant questions from a newbie,,,,,

what does FLEDGED mean???

and I gather a gouldian doesn't get his bright colors until after they moult???

what does FLEDGED mean???
Fledged means babies who have left the nest. Fledgelings are flying, and still being fed by the parents (or human in this case). Once they are eating and drinking by themselves, we call them juveniles.

I don't know how you could part with the little one Sally! Our fledglings have converted my wife to birds! She used to hate them and now they fly around the front room haha!

If Sally kept every finch she hand fed, she would be over-run with birds :wink: . Me on the other hand...I am keeping my hand-fed Green Singer. He (or she) is my little love <3
