Oh Elana....I've been off the forum for a couple of days and just saw this thread. I'm so sorry this happened to your baby. I was so hoping they wouldn't do that :( I'm sure he'll do great with you. I hated when my owl pair did that with their baby...I know it's a mother nature thing to abandon one baby to have a larger clutch, but it's still sad. I hope your little guy/girl does well!!!!

Babs

I wish I had your strong faith my friend.
He's hanging in there by a thread. All I can do is keep him warm and comfortable, keep the food coming, and hope for the best. The odds at this point are.....iffy at best.

Thanks Stacie

II'm holding my fingers crossed, and when I'm busy feeding Owl Child, I cross my toes too.

Elana, I have to commend you for trying. I'm not shy to admit that I completely avoid hand rearing and let nature take it's course. Well done for stepping in and helping out your babies when needed. It takes great courage =D>

I really hope your little Owl makes it :YMPRAY:

So very sorry you lost him, Elana. You certainly tried to save him, but perhaps the parents knew what they were doing when they stopped feeding him.

Sally

I know, but...... ahhhhh.......
I just get too attached to these tiny little guys, I can't help myself. I'm a sucker for the unloved and unwanted little ones.

Thank goodness I don't live in a third world country, I'd be running an Orphanage/Animal Shelter combined :-).

He was warm and well fed when he passed. So much better than being cold and alone while hearing his parents ignore him.

Nature is cruel, but bird-life in your home is a loving place.
