They look great! Hopefully they finally get the nest just right so they can raise a family.

The bird kids are awesome & starting to cricket & sing even more. They have completely deconstructed their nest now which has been interesting to watch. But on a brighter note, they have been named ... presenting "Teddy" (Mrs) & "Bear" (Mr) heehee

I love Teddy & Bear (Teddy-Bear). Cute name choices. Glad to hear that they're doing well, and still constructing and diconstructing.

Enjoy

Awwww thanks so much. It was so hard to choose. Big news today was they completely deconstructed their nest soooooo since it was house keeping day today, they got a complete spit & polish including a new covered nest that they can fill to their hearts content with fluff & stuff. Will be interesting to see what they do with it :D

Now that's exciting news. I bet they're over the moon, with a new house to decorate to their heart's content. They are going to be busy little birdlings today :-):-).

Well ... the madness continues!

Teddy & Bear have completely filled the wicker nest with nesting material & have finally finished building (thank goodness).

Here's where it gets interesting ...

Teddy will spend all day in there with Bear visiting now & then & every once in a while she'll come out with him for a snack/bath etc. Then she goes back in. BUT neither of them spend the night in the nest?! They've been doing this for days. To start with, I felt quite excited but I'm not convinced there's anything really in there if they are content to leave the nest unmanned overnight. I know that an egg can survive for something like 20 minutes without a parent sitting, but all night?

I'm wondering if they are play acting? Pretending to nest? We have witnessed 'relations' (poor Teddy getting chased around), so I imagine there will be eggs at some point.

Thoughts? :D

Eggs can go a whole lot longer then just 20 minutes without being sat on. They probably will not start to sit tight till there are about 3 or 4 eggs in the nest.
After the eggs have started incubating I have heard of times when the egg has survived up to 2 days without being sat on. How long it will survive depends on the stage of development and the environmental conditions but it can happen.

Hope they start laying and sitting for you soon.
best of luck

Very cute pair.

How many eggs have they got in the nest? Mine don't sit tight at night until they are all laid and ready for incubating usually between 4 and 6 eggs.

Do you have a pic of their nest, curious to see what they are nesting in?
Mine tend to like the Gouldian type boxes or deep budgie boxes. They seem to like a little tunnel into their nest.

Once they get into breeding mode, don't be alarmed by their courtship (which involves the male chasing the female relentlessly, and jumping her at every opportunity, holding her by the scruff and pulling out some of her feathers). Parrot boys, are not renowned for being gentlemen when it comes to romancing the ladies.

Make sure, that there are some hiding spots in your flight, for your girl to be able to get away from your boy when she needs a break from his amorous pursuit.
There was this guy 20 years ago...................... :)) :))

BTW, I am totally in LOVE with those finches colors!!

Thanks so much for your advice everyone, it is much appreciated :D

Well, I can confirm that Teddy & Bear have eggs! There are at least three (maybe four) eggs in the nest. They were good enough to let me take a photo without touching the nest this afternoon. The photo is a bit blurry & my hand moved when I pressed the button so I only got two in the photo. It's all very exciting & my son made a calendar for the fridge this morning so we can mark off the days heehee.
