Babs

Omg Babs, I'd rather you than me,

I'd take my hat off to anyone who can hand rear as this takes time and dedication,

Me personally I'm probably a little harsh because I won't hand rear any birds as I feel if my birds can't rear their own then so be it :-?

I simply wouldn't have the time and patience for this,

I like to have all my birds rear their own young and if I had bengalese ( society finches ) that couldn't be trusted to rear anything they'd then be out of the door as quick as they came in

Well done with yer achievement Babs =D>

We have a touchdown!! \M/ \M/ As Stuart would say, the kids "are on sticks!." I woke up late this morning, opened up all the curtains (spectrum lighting was already on by 6am), knocked over a jar off the shelf in my grogginess under Jet's - Bubble cage. I pick it up and my face is staring within inches of 4 gorgeous and absolutley freeking terrified     fledged beauties!!!

I got my hiney in the kitchen to lay the eggfood on and got a shot of one of them. Jet is flying around like a madman screaming "INTRUDER ALERT-INTRUDER ALERT!!" so the kids were all over the place avoiding the camera.

I'm impressed by how you've become an expert in finch care in so short a time Babs, great job. Your birds are very lucky to be in your care and you've had some great success with these Gouldians now!

I'm hesitant to breed anything again after having to become mother to five canaries this spring from hatching to fledging - it was the first time I had a momma bird who didn't know what to do. Happy I got them through but very hard on my mental health! No sleep!

Wow what a nice thing to say Dylan. :YMHUG: I wish I was an expert! I have to give you all on the forum the credit. You guys and gals taught me every step of the way.

You do an amazing job with your birds! Im right with you on not wanting to do handfeeding this year. The goal is all parent raised birds this year. Brat's sitting on her 1st clutch of the season and I have one more pair, not set up to breed (female is still molting).

So keep your fingers crossed the season keeps going this smoothly. [-o<
