Does anybody have these and what do you think of them ... not much on the nest about them that I can find.

I have room for a pair of finches and saw these in the petshop. Any feedback would be super

Michael, I'm going to move your thread to Species, where it might get more attention. I have recently acquired two male Cherry finches, and I already adore them. They have the cutest little song and are very attractive birds. Donna (dfcauley) has a pair of them that have been quite prolific. She keeps hers in her large sunporch aviary, and can tell you more about them. Mine so far are eating my finch seed mix, spray millet (of course), homemade eggfood, and veggies. They are not readily available in the U.S. mickp in Oz keeps and breeds them.

I love these birds. I have a whole flock of them in my aviary. My pair has had several clutches, but never over two at a time.
Right now they are caring for one.

They are very inquisitive and active birds. If you do not have a large area to keep them, I would suggest that you don't get them. They really do require the largest space available that you can provide for them. Mine are flying all over the place all the time. They are extremely active.

They will eat whatever you provide. Mine love cucumber, greens, fruit patte, eggfood and millet.

I think you would really enjoy these birds!

I got paid today and so i thought about what you said. Cherrys needing space lots of it. Now I dont have an outdoor aviary and they wouldnt survive in the winter here in Ireland,so I went out and Bought a 3foot long cage and 1 and a half foot wide and deep.

Evergreen branches around it and it looks well.
So while I was there I sat looking at the cherrys and I picked my pair that I wanted.
There was a cut throat finch in with them for some reason about 12 cherrys and one cut throat.
I asked for a male and female,the shop assistant went to catch the cut throat trying to tell me it was a Male cherry finch. I burt out laughing at the guy and asked him how he got his job.
How do these people get hired they should know their stuff.

Anyway I got my pair and they like the cage I have for them its very spacious and parts are hidden with the evergreen. they have a lovely chirp.

I think it is absolutely wonderful that you provided all this space for your new cherry finches. I am sure you are going to love them and I hope they will make lots of babies for you (if that is what you want)

They seem to love fruit(sliced oranges, figs, etc...)

I would like to breed them eventually but right now im just going to leave it a few months and let them get adjusted to their new surroundings and me watching them from my chair and my refilling of their seed and water containers.
The zebs are cool with it so far.

The male Cherry finch has a beautiful song.
