I have loads of monkey nuts arouns as hamsters love them and was just thinking they be great fun for finches to peck at the shell etc,but wanted to check if they are ok first

OK, I had to look up what "monkey nuts" are, and Wikipedia tells me they are peanuts.

Sorry for laughing but I've never heard that term before.

I believe they should be ok for finches too, since they are ok for parrots including smaller varieties such as parrotlets and budgies... But I am far from being a nutrition expert.
Walk-in aviary with Waxbills (6 Cordon Bleu, 3 Orange Cheek, 3 Black-rumped, 1 Lavender, ), 1 European Goldfinch, 4 Gouldians, 2 Spice Finches, 6 Owl Finches, 4 Budgies and 2 male Button Quail.
I also have 2 parrotlets, 3 dogs, 1 snake and 3 freshwater fishtanks.

Finches can sometimes be scared to try a new food, or they may just not like the new food. Depends on the bird.

I read on a website somewhere that you can give finches peanuts, but I haven't tried giving them to mine myself.

Some crushed nuts are good for finches and some types should be steered away from.
