Chocolate shafttails...?

Post by newlinta » Sun Mar 20, 2011 10:36 am

I was at the local bird farm the other day and they had normals, fawns and 3 "chocolate" shafttails for sale.
Has anyone ever heard or seen this mutation?
They are slightly darker than normals and all the grey areas had more of a brown hue...pretty interesting looking.
If I had the $$ I would have bought them.
I wasn't able to get a pic either...
Just curious if they are a true "mutation" or some genetic fluke?

Maybe what many call fawn, these have a brown color. Maybe the store just called them chocolate because they dindn't know what fawn was, posibly?

Most likely it was a very deep colored fawn...even fawns in zebra colors vary, some light and some very dark.

I have fawns...they are always much lighter in color than normals though they do vary with some slightly lighter or darker...these were darker in color than normals and mostly in brown hues...
