Shaftail color mutation question
A local finch breeder, a friend of a friend told me she has fawn, normals and cinnamon shaftails.
I have never heard of cinnamon shaftails...I looked up shaftails on efinch. There are fawns and dilute fawns or Isabele, there is nothing listed as cinnamon. Most likely the term "cinnamon" could be the dilute or Isabele. Has anyone heard of this?

I may be getting some of her shaftails, it will be interesting to see what the color looks like in person.

Re: Shaftail color mutation question
Could it be possible that she is referring to creams as fawns, and cinnamon as fawns?

Re: Shaftail color mutation question
Back in the day, we called them cinnamon shaftails, today they are mostly refered to as fawn.
Same with the Java sparrows... we always called them cinnamon javas back then and now we call them fawns.
Like we use to say what's happening.... now wassup. I just saw where they actually added wassup to the dictionary, along with lol, omg, and muffintop
Seems like name/words are always changing which when it comes to bird colors is just plain confusing for many

Re: Shaftail color mutation question
I think what she is referring to is her darker fawns as cinnamon and dilutes as fawn...I hope to see this in person and will bring a camera.

Javas are referred to the same way.
Get's a little confusing at times!
Silver javas are sometimes referred to as Blues!

Can't wait to see the photos! The breeder I got my Societies and Zebs from had shafttails but I thought it would be prudent to start out easy and (maybe) work my way up.

Re: Shaftail color mutation question
I love my Shaftails too but mine were certainly more of a challenge to me than the Zebras or Socs.
