I have never seen a finch moult before so I have no experience. My juveniles are coloring out quickly...first with the breast and edge of wing and now maybe a new tiny spot or two on the head. My adult gouldians appear to be starting to moult also. The male I am worried about started with the breast and a couple of feathers on outside of wing but now I notice that his feathers are a little thin on the nape of the neck. There are new feather pins in there and he seems otherwise well...singing, eating....and no one seems to be picking on him but because it was different than the juveniles I thought I would ask. My birds are getting the green day diet (though they don't seem to eat much of it) with feather fast sprinkled on top and feather fast mixed with seed.
I tried getting a photo but he won't turn his back to me (smart bird).
thanks,
Lori

Re: Is this normal moult?
Sounds like a normal molt to me.
Just keep up with the protien, and he should be back in tip top shape shortly.
