i have been putting small end branches of chestnut in their cage with the young leaves on it and they seem to go wild for that but not sure if its safe? i have always thought that in the wild birds come across these do's and don't trees everyday and had some kind of foreknowledge that they were good or bad.
My bengalese (society finches) dont seem interested in any form of greens, infact they seem to be glued to my millet spray and between the 2 of them they can clear a whole stick a day.
Sometimes i think my shaft tails have thrown the rule book out of the window

Funny thing though i bought a water melon the dark green outter with deep red center and placed it inside the cage, the shaft tails kept making a warning chirp and wouldnt go anywhere near it. To be honist they looked scared of it

My main concern is wether chestnut leaves are ok for them? i know they love it but i am hoping it isnt going to harm them.
