Desert Finch Rhodospiza Obsoleta

Post by BigBear0007 » Fri Jul 08, 2011 3:15 pm

Anybody ever keep " Desert Finch Rhodospiza Obsoleta"
I have a chance to get a male.
A friend of mine has two male imports and only asking $130.00 each.
They are suppose to be related to the European Greenies?

SWA has them for $150.00 pr. They are pretty but I'd have to research what conditions they like. We are real humid here and get pretty cold in the winter months. I assume they are desert birds which means they would probably like very dry & hot conditions.

Absolutely gorgeous! I agree with JohnBoy.. I'll have to read up on them and see what their temperment and eating habits are. I would love a pair. Their song sounds similar to the Euro Goldfinch. When I played the youtube video, my Euro were calling to it.

I think that the vids don't do the bird any justice.
The two I heard singing were kind of siberian goldfinch and bull finch mix.
