Black cheek/BC CCFW young

Post by cindy » Mon Jul 25, 2011 2:32 pm

I have a pair of BC zebras and a pair of the BC CCFW

I took one offspring from each and paired them. First clutch gave only one offspring a larger than normal size BC CCFW/BC, fuller feathers, fluffy like..and a bigger bird.

The second clutch yeilded a BC CCFW/BC and 2 BC/BC CCFW. I'm not sure how to write it but the BC CCFW/BC is a visual white bird with black cheeks that is also split to black cheek. The BC/BC CCFW is a visual black cheek split to BC CCFW.

The BC/BC CCFW fledglings are bigger and taller and have a whiter chest...not as buff color as the BC.

The middle picture is of a BC/BC CCFW and the bottom picture is a BC baby. First picture is the young with both BC mom and the BC CCFW dad.

Thank you, I am trying to get a small colony of them right now...it is taking some doing since they are not as common as regular BC.

I purchased the only pair of BC CCFW at a show, I am not entirely sure how you get the BC CCFW, I know of course one parent must have been BC but it was paired with a white of some sort. They are stunning birds in person and quiet. I find my BC mutations are some of the quieter ones of the zebra family. The young are barely heard begging....they seem hardier.

I do notice that the chicks of normals and other mutations are slender in body than a BC baby whose body is more pear shaped...giving it the heavier appearance as adults.

.
Yes, I also noticed that My BC Boys are alot quieter than my other boys at the same age!!
They started to sing much older than my CCFW boy,
and I almost never hear them sing!
Very strange, LOL!!

And I agree, the BC birds are said to be slightly bigger than other mutations.
my BC boys and BC girl (all siblings) are all equal in size and bigger than their parents, (normal greys, split for Isabel and BC)
