I have a canary and a pair of zebra finches together in one flight cage. I have two seed hoppers in there - one with a canary mix, and one with a finch mix. It's easy to tell how much of each is being eaten, because the hulls end up in the hull catcher at the bottom of the hopper. I've noticed that really, not much of the canary mix gets eaten. Even the canary pretty strongly prefers the little seeds of the finch mix, I guess.
Silly birds.
