I still haven't been able to locate any cocoa nut fibre, but they like burlap and paper towel strips!
It's only the hen that I see building, not the male, unless he does some when I am not around?

They were sleeping in the nest last night for the first time ever!

I just saw the one that I think is the hen,
holding a piece of nesting material and dancing up and down!
Last time I saw that a few weeks ago it was the male!
So, I guess both will do the dance?

Typically, and I am referring to all species esp. humans, females do the best decorating. At least in my experience.

Cute!

I didn't have success with my lavendars (I actually think they are both males) but they really like to dance and fiddle around with strips of green leaves (pulling them off palm plants when I occasionally put some in the aviary) and hay. I get bunny hay in the petstore and my birds love it.
Walk-in aviary with Waxbills (6 Cordon Bleu, 3 Orange Cheek, 3 Black-rumped, 1 Lavender, ), 1 European Goldfinch, 4 Gouldians, 2 Spice Finches, 6 Owl Finches, 4 Budgies and 2 male Button Quail.
I also have 2 parrotlets, 3 dogs, 1 snake and 3 freshwater fishtanks.

There is some Timothy hay in the nest that I put in, they really didn't care for it!
Paper and burlap, they love!
I just hope I dont have two males?
Only the one that I think is the hen does all the building, so I hope it is a pair?

Go to the link below and there is a picture there.
I put them up for sale, but no one was interested in them.
I am building a flight cage so I guess I will keep them!

I've had good luck looking at the red on the rump for sexing, though just to be sure I DNA-sexed all of my lavenders. One of my pairs would do a dance together, doing an alternating bobbing dance while singing - very cool!
